Shannon graduated from AUT with a Bachelor of Health and Science in Physiotherapy in 2010. For the past 8 years she has gained valuable physiotherapy experience working in the public, community and private care settings in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Areas have included cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, older people’s health, falls prevention, palliative care and symptom management, musculoskeletal and oncology rehabilitation.
She has recently returned to Orewa after 3 years living and working in London where she specialised in Lymphoedema Therapy. During this time, she enhanced her knowledge and skills working with people through every stage of their cancer treatment with a focus on improving function and quality of life. She is a certified PINC Cancer Rehabilitation Physiotherapist and soon to be certified in STEEL Cancer Rehabilitation as well. She is passionate about working in this area as there is a real lack of support for both men and women following their medical treatment & PINC/STEEL rehab helps to maximise recovery, regain physical and emotional strength, stamina and get people back to the things that matter most to them.
Shannon enjoys being in the outdoors and remains active by running, hiking, cycling and kite boarding. She enjoys having both personal and physical goals to work towards and loves that her job allows her to work with her clients towards their own rehabilitation goals.
To improve access to cancer rehabilitation and lymphoedema treatment within the Hibiscus Coast area through education, fundraising and completing her STEEL Cancer rehabilitation accreditation.
