What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is the treatment of problems in the body by physical methods such as hands-on treatment and exercise, rather than by medication or surgery.

Physiotherapists use manual treatment, exercises, advice and education to enhance your body’s ability to repair, restore and improve itself. By performing these interventions, we can to help relieve pain and stiffness, restore normal body movement, and pro-actively help you stop developing further problems.

Who needs to visit a Physiotherapist?

A lot of people initially come to see a Physiotherapist because of an accident or injury. While we are experts at dealing with these conditions, we also encourage people to see us in order to prevent injuries or overuse problems in the first place.

As well treating your injuries, our role at Active+ is to assess for muscle and postural imbalances in the body, prescribe exercises and give advice to overcome these, helping you to feel stronger, more flexible, and healthier.

What do Active+ Physios do?

We see thousands of clients every year, from professional athletes to stay at home mums. Our job is to get you active and able to perform again, whether that means running a marathon, or doing the gardening. We assess your problem and put together a plan to achieve your goals by finding the best solution for your needs. Common treatments we deal with on a daily basis include:

  • Joint mobilisation/manipulation
  • Trigger point massage/release
  • Soft tissue massage
  • Acupuncture
  • Stretching exercise regimes
  • Pilates and core stability
  • Strengthening exercises
  • Postural and movement re-education
