Heather travelled to New Zealand after graduating with a BA in Sociology in 2004, and after a few years of travelling and working in the travel industry, she moved into the health and fitness world, managing several gyms within a chain in Wellington for 6 years. She found she was passionate about coaching and motivating members to better their health, and became qualified in both NZQA Level 3 Exercise Science (2016) and NZQA Level 3 Group Fitness Instructor (2015), using these qualifications to work as a group fitness instructor teaching regular classes in her gym and supporting her team of personal trainers with their development.
After having children, she made the move into the physiotherapy environment as she wanted to focus on working one on one with people in a rehabilitative setting, and has been a rehab assistant in the neuro physio setting since the beginning of 2021. She loves building relationships and working together to affect change and empower clients to get the most of of life. She has completed training programmes in the REX bionic exoskeleton, MS get a head start, and PD warrior, and has experience working with clients with a range of neurological conditions.

Lymphoedema therapy
This is different to providing massage alone. Certified Lymphoedema therapists are trained to assess the body site that has the issue and to identify other factors that may be contributing to your lymphoedema. This includes incorporating self-management strategies such as exercise, skin care, and what type of compression would best suit the affected area, we can also refer to nutritionists and counsellors to help you regain control and make lifestyle changes. We assist you in preventing and managing exacerbations, along with communicating with the other members of your health care team, including your GP, nurse specialist, oncologist, and surgeon to ensure your treatment is both safe and effective.
