Kate Rapana
Occupational Therapist

About

Kate is an Occupational Therapist with over 20 years of experience.  Most of her career has been working for District Health Boards and in recent years in the private sector.  Kate has a strong passion for working with individuals whose mental wellbeing has been affected and supporting them to regain empowerment, knowledge, and independence. The majority of her work has been in community and functional rehabilitation, mental health promotion, trauma-informed care, and recovery.

Kate has worked with individuals with a variety of health conditions including Depression, Psychosis, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Chronic Pain, Autism, and Brain Injuries.  For many years Kate worked with young adults experiencing Mental Distress and had the opportunity to enable these individuals to follow their goals, explore barriers and regain opportunities to enhance their independence.

In the last year, Kate has moved from Auckland to Whangarei to be closer to Whanau and build a different lifestyle for their young children. Her role since arriving in Whangarei has been focused on settling and connecting her boys into their new environment.  She recently joined Activeplus and is ready to further her career development and aspirations.

Kate is a highly motivated and enthusiastic clinician and is excited to be working as a part of a dynamic community-based multi-disciplinary team.

Kate believes in the promotion of prevention and recovery, trauma-informed care, and the importance of cultural diversity and equal opportunities for the clients and the Whanau she works with.
