Shannon Spicer
Physiotherapist

About

Shannon graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2013 from Otago University and a Post Graduate diploma in Health Science (Acupuncture) in 2022 from AUT. During her career, Shannon has worked in a busy sports clinic in Palmerston North, and in London, England in various NHS hospitals in outpatients, orthopaedics, and triage clinics, before she joined the Active Plus team in 2020.

Shannon utilizes a combination of skills to facilitate a patient’s recovery following injury including patient education, dry needling, acupuncture, manual therapy, and exercise prescription. Shannon strongly believes in providing her patients with the appropriate rehabilitation treatment, advice and exercises following an injury, but also providing injury prevention-based exercises to promote the long-term wellbeing of her patients.

Outside of the clinic, Shannon works with Basketball New Zealand in a variety of roles; providing courtside physio input at various national competitions and is also the New Zealand U17 Girls Basketball team physiotherapist where she attends selection camps and tours internationally.

Shannon also enjoys travelling and plans to continue to explore the world in between her work, house renovations, and basketball commitments.

My Goals

To begin working towards her Masters, and continue with her study in the Pelvic Health arena.
