Kate Wallis
Physiotherapist
About
Kate joined the Active+ whānau in 2021, bringing with her a strong foundation in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy after graduating from AUT in 2018. While she enjoys treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, her true passion is helping people move, recover, and regain confidence through every stage of life.
As a certified Cancer Rehabilitation Physiotherapist, Kate has developed a special interest in oncology rehabilitation. She is passionate about supporting people before, during, and after cancer treatment, helping them manage the physical challenges that can accompany a cancer diagnosis. Whether it's rebuilding strength after surgery, managing fatigue, improving mobility, reducing pain, or simply helping someone return to the activities they love, Kate combines evidence-based rehabilitation with genuine compassion and understanding.
Kate believes that every cancer journey is unique. She takes the time to listen, understand each person's goals, and tailor treatment to meet their individual needs. Her calm, caring nature helps people feel supported and empowered, creating a safe space where they can focus on recovery, regain confidence, and improve their quality of life.
Alongside her oncology work, Kate has a passion for exercise rehabilitation, post-operative recovery, injury prevention, and helping people feel stronger—both physically and mentally. She takes a holistic approach to physiotherapy, looking beyond the injury to understand the whole person and what matters most to them.
Kate is also trained in Mat Pilates, which she incorporates into both one-on-one treatment sessions and group classes to build strength, stability, confidence, and long-term resilience.
Outside the clinic, Kate loves catching up with friends, visiting family in the deep south, and staying active wherever she can.
Oh—and here's a fun fact: Kate is also a marriage celebrant! So if you're after a physio who can help you recover from surgery and legally marry you (preferably not in the same session)—Kate's your girl!
